Why Internet Explorer Still Sucks

First of all, I highly recommend that everyone who reads this article download and install Internet Explorer 7 for one specific reason: so they can uninstall it in disgust and curse Microsoft.

It seems many people have been caught up in the hype surrounding IE7, and, simply due to the loudness of Microsoft, they are actually beginning to believe Internet Destroyer is now as good as (or even better than) Firefox 2. In this brief article, I will attempt to coax these feeble-minded citizens from the edge of the cliff and back to the world of reason.

To do this, I will use the following structure: IE7 Pros & Cons, and then FF2 Pros & Cons. Note that I will only mention things in Pros & Cons that are not seen in the competition.

Internet Explorer 7

IE7 now has thumbnail previews of all your open tabs.
  • Thumbnail previews
  • Tab groups
  • Content filter
  • OverActiveX support
  • Heavy integration with Windows
  • Confusing security controls
  • Terrible page rendering
  • No themes
  • Minuscule developer base
  • Confusing interface
  • Slow page loads
  • No spell checker
Firefox 2

FF2 incorporates a new scam detector to protect users from forgeries.

  • Themes
  • No ActiveX support
  • No integration
  • Tighter security controls
  • Huge extension developer base
  • Simpler interface
  • Faster page load times
  • Inline spell checker
  • Better page rendering
  • None
That's right, ladies and gentlymen! There are no, I repeat no cons for FF2 that can't be corrected with a few well chosen extensions. None!

So now which is better?

Very nice, I have yet seen the forgery warning come up yet though.

I have also not found a problem with Firefox, and they found problems with IE7 at launch!

loving the spell check. :P

Yes, Microsoft software tends to be packed with bugs that they swept under the rug during development that suddenly come out and attack the unwary.

Man, that spell checker is nice!
